The nonstick glass pitcher is a bit heavy and tricky to clean (due to the heating element, it can’t be immersed in water or cleaned in a dishwasher), but the blender does feature a “self-clean” function: Just put some water and a few drops of dishwashing soap in the blender, and it will run at high speed for a minute to clean itself (though it might need a bit more scrubbing by hand with the included cleaning brush). In addition to hot foods, it makes smoothies, cocktails, and all the other things a usual high-speed blender can. It also has a keep-warm function so you can prepare your soup ahead of time and keep it piping hot until you’re ready to serve it. You can throw some ingredients into it, press a button, walk away, and come back later to a ready-to-eat soup. The hands-off functions are impressive: It can chop and sauté ingredients and then cook and blend them into a smooth or chunky soup.
